Congratulations Stacie and Calvin

Before Christine Gardner became a recognized makeup and hair stylist here in Hawaii, she was busy passing along the beauty of the ukulele to little keikis. Today was a matter of colliding destines as Christine played a new tune of styling one of her former ukulele students Stacie for her Wedding to Calvin!  Through a teacher comes a teacher and Stacie eventually taught the art of ukulele also.

It was a great moment for the both of them as Christine got to see her former “little grasshopper” now transform into a beautiful bride. Best wishes Calvin and Stacie. Till we cross paths again!!

Flawless Gore!!!

Filed under: The Buzz — admin @ 2:19 am

Team FLAUNT said goodbye to flawless faces last week Thursday and Friday.  We brought out the special effects kit and created gore.  We created cuts, burns, slashes and blisters on almost 100 men and women.  The more blood the better effect!  On a serious note, this to create a real life situation of victims for the Hawaii National Guard training test in Diamond Head Creator.

Check out the blog from one of the Actors, Ron Ching whom I attacked  :0 I love this stuff…Christine

I was attacked!

I was attacked by a make-up artist on Thursday to get me and 40-plus other volunteers ready to play victims of a major calamity to help prepare responders in their roles. (See my brains leaking out?) This was done in Diamond Head crater for two days, at least for us “actors.”

It was intriguing for me to see even a small part of the preparation, equipment and training that goes into such a major undertaking and I hope that we actors did our own parts well. If a calamity actually took place, I want the responders to really be sharp! I played my part by moaning and groaning and writhing in pain although unconscious — and to give as much of a bad time to the rescuers without being too ridiculous.

(It was quite an experience for me to be/act completely helpless and be at the attention and care of others and funny to hear them curse etc when my arm would fall off the gurney and they had trouble getting the arm to stick on the stretcher, or to endure what seemed like long periods of waiting for help to come, sometimes some rough handling, feeling super-cold after being watered/washed down after “decontamination,” and being unable to say something about what I needed, like being dried off and a warm blanket — Caregiving is difficult and so is being victim, perhaps even more!)
